Occupational Health Nurse II, East Peoria, IL.,  12 months, City:--East Peoria, State:--Illinois

*1st shift - Mon-Fri 

Summary:

To deliver basic occupational health nursing services and conducts general administrative nursing duties. This position typically resides in a low-volume Medical clinic and/or shift, resulting in the execution of lower volume and complexity nursing responsibilities relative to more advanced, higher volume positions. Incumbents typically have previous general healthcare, acute care, or occupational health experience and have progressed through various health care positions. The job functions could include some or all of the following: The delivery of basic nursing services related to employee illness and injury; Responds to on-site medical emergencies. Consults on and coordinates advanced on-site medical care when needed; Ensures all clinic functions are consistent with Medical Department policies and procedures; Assumes responsibility for basic health clinical administration, including but not limited to maintaining clinic order, delivering new employee orientation presentations, and maintaining metrics, measurements and documentation for corporate Medical functions via paper records and/or the HR data system (PeopleSoft); Acts the liaison between local facility and the Corporate Medical Department to ensure medical services meet the expectations of the facility leadership and the employees; Supports Disability Case Management activities; Supports medical staff and outside entities in determining the work-relatedness of injuries, complying with governmental regulations, and conducting investigations; Supports the delivery of wellness communication and on-site wellness programming; Engages in a supportive role as assigned in special projects, program delivery; Conducts DOT drug testing and fit-for-duty evaluations; Conducts OSHA mandated and other surveillance exams. Incumbents will be required to work autonomously and utilize his/her clinical training and skills to response to basic medical needs. Critical thinking, problem solving and the development of improved nursing practices will be expected. However the scope and complexity of this position will be limited by the demands of the location, facility and shift. Job activities are typically defined by standard departmental procedures and the direction of their immediate supervisor. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy. Incumbents will be required to work autonomously and utilize his/her clinical training and skills to response to basic medical needs. Critical thinking, problem solving and the development of improved nursing practices will be expected. However the scope and complexity of this position will be limited by the demands of the location, facility and shift. Job activities are typically defined by standard departmental procedures and the direction of their immediate supervisor.  Qualifications:

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse or International equivalent.
  • In addition to outstanding clinical skills and judgment, the incumbent must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills with an acute focus on customer service.
  • Critical thinking and good problem-solving skills are highly desired.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.

 Desired Requirements:

  • Use of basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • The position typically requires a college or university degree or equivalent experience.
  • The position requires experience in and knowledge of the various areas of occupational healthcare delivery- including injury and illness intervention, applicable regulations, company policies and procedures.
  • In addition to the desired education, 2 or more years of acute or occupational nursing experience are typically required.
  • Certifications in related fields highly desirable.
  • Candidate Responsibilities: Complete post offers and drug screens. The need for this will vary depending on business unit need so nurse will also be trained to run clinics as well.
